Pop Tart - my celiac nightmare.

Oh, Pop Tarts!  My favorite snack.  But, since my celiac diagnosis, Pop Tarts are a No Not!

I've got to get busy discovering a flaky crust to bake some home made gluten free pop tarts.  The other day I sneaked a pop tart, and have been dieing with gastric upset.  My guts are so sore, when I cough, I hurt.

Keep following for that recipe, because I'm going to be working on that next week.  Until then, I've decided to kill my sweet tooth, or cravings with simple tasks.

Brush your teeth!  It will help alleviate the desire for something sweet.

Drink plenty of water to trick your body into feeling full.  And, drinking water keeps you hydrated.  Cravings are often caused by dehydration, and your body desperately needing water - thus craving.  We mistake it for hunger, so we snack.

Better days ahead.  Stay tuned...

  1. Hi Carolin

This is Arnold 67 years old grandpa here in South Carolina(former missionary to Uruguay), but in South Carolina now.

Great blog you have here. I love to read your stories and experiences with celiac disease. I have a friend in the mission field with celiac disease, and it is not fun.

Anyway here is my new blog (not finished yet) where I share info on the celiac and gluten free niche: http://beyondtheglutenfreediet.com/

On great thing you can do to stop the sugar craving is to eat lots of protein (meat, chichen, eggs, cheese etc.) because protein nourishes your body. I did that, and I no longer crave anything because my body is well nourished.

You can find these products in gluten free form.

Anyway, I just wanted congratulate for such beautiful blog. Have fun and may God bless you and family

  2. Hi, Arnold. Wow, a missionary. That's what I always wanted to do, but was never sent in that direction. Blessings on you, my brother in Christ!

Thank you for your kind words, and my apologies for not sending a message earlier. All sorts of things have happened this last year, one being the complete destruction of my Apple computer. I lost everything. Tons of pictures I have scanned.

I'm up and running again, so I do hope to keep everyone abreast of things more often!

Congratulations on your blog, and I look forward to reading it!
